THE GUTTER POLITICS OF MALAYSIAN POLITICIANS

In the advancement of the rapid usage of the global media and MSM today, most politicians do not have much time to write books or journals to depict and highlight their issues in the main stream and social media. This is also known as paid or hired ghost writers and there is nothing wrong in doing so if their intentions is sincere in promoting their cause and public services to the people, who have elected them to office, State Assembly or Parliament. Almost all our prominent politicians, including former PMs, Ministers, Federal, State and Divisional leaders from both sides of the political divide have been doing this kind of public awareness through their books and journals. Today most of them have their blogspot column, facebook and twitter accounts, including our country's number one leader PM Najib Tun Razak and of course the controversial elite blogger former PM Tun Mahathir or Chedet column. There are many other prominent past and present political leaders from both sides of the political divide, for which I shall reserve mentioning of their names in this article.

Interesting though, I have been a guest writer and also a columnist myself from the early 1990, when I had my first desk computer, while doing national service overseas in Europe and Asia. I have had no opportunity to serve in the Arab-African countries while in my diplomatic career in the Foreign Ministry. Back in my younger days as a junior diplomat (since 1971), there were lots of issues that I could have observed in the foreign and Malaysian scenes, here and overseas.

I also had the privilege to have served our former PMs Tun Hussein, Tun Mahathir, Tun Abdullah Badawi and currently DS Najib Razak when he was the DPM (1971 until my retirement in late 1998). Even after my mandated retirement in 1998, I was fortunately to be given the opportunity to work in one of the prominent GLC, Multimedia Super Corridor (now known as Mdec). In the MSC, I had constant dealings with the former PM Tun Mahathir, who was incharge of MSC and Chairman of the MSC International Advisory Panel of Advisers. I had also dealt with some other senior and key Ministers related to the development of MSC from January 2000 until I resigned and left for New Zealand in mid 2002.

Today, after more than 15 years of my retirement from 1998, I am still actively blogging my thoughts in relating my own personal views and experiences in commenting on the current political, economic and social issues in Malaysia, even though I seldom made waves when provoking my thoughts, pro and anti establishment. I had also frequently made pro and con references to some of our notable leaders from both sides of the political divide, including Tun Mahathir, Tun Abdullah Badawi, Ku-Li, Tun Daim, the infamous Anwar Ibrahim, Khairy Jamaluddin and of course my favorite PM/Minister DS Najib Razak.

One of my favorite and controversial issue is ISA for absolute National Security (posted in September 2008). Fast forward I have written quite a lot on the gutters and antics of our political leaders and ground politicians, published in my own given name and blogsphere: MasAgungKL's Scribe and Janda Manis, but never anything under Anonymous coverage. I have also frequently posted my comments and other articles of international and national interest published in Malaysiankini, Malaysia Insider, Malaysia Today (RPK) and some other blogs including Rocky's Bru, the Mole and Datuk Kadir Jasin Scribe.

In reference to the current issues and political situation in Malaysia and the region, I shall confine my thoughts and writings to Tun Mahathir (currently embroiled with PakLah over his book, AWAKENING - TUN ABDULLAH BADAWI IN HIS YEARS OF OFFICE). The Anwar Ibrahim saga which I had be internationally implicated, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (Our  Kelantan Royal Prince and a distant relative) and not forgetting the current PM Najib Tun Razak, who is now incharge and in the forefront of international, regional and national political forefront before and the aftermath of the recent 13th general election in Malaysia democratic process of governance.

The rest is history and to be reserved for some other day, including the sensational story behind the scene of the Kingmaker in highlighting PakLah's controversial book through the courtesy of Professor James Chin and political analysts Bridge Welsh. The former controversial academician is based in Australia and the later based in Singapore. For those FB friends and other who are interested in my story, just lock my name "Mustapha Ong" in the world of Google World and share my thoughts with me, both pro and con, but with absolute and acceptable journalistic etiquette, and responsibility. I dislike comments behind the "anonymous postings" but accept and tolerate constructive criticisms, which should be respectful and following the norms of good journalism in the MSM or social media, blogs, facebook and twitter accounts.

THE AFTERMATH OF MALAYSIA'S 13TH GENERAL ELECTION

ANWARISM: Anwar Ibrahim, the former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia during the Mahathir administration was a student activist before he was invited to join the government in 1982. Today, he is one of the most vocal and outspoken politicians and another opportunist, apart from DAP Supremo Lim Kit Siang. Anwar used to enjoy the confidence and respect of UMNO/Barisan Nasional in his prime days. Now he is the Opposition Leader leading his crusade against the legitimate BN government under prime minister Najib Tun Razak, the current 6th PM of Democratic Malaysia after the recent 13th general election.

In September 1998, Anwar was disgraced and ousted by the then PM Tun Mahathir for being immorally involved in scandalous sexual acts, (not legitimate in Islamic Malaysia) an episode widely and infamously known as Sodomy I. Many innocent people were implicated in Malaysia and also abroad. I was one of those accused from Washington by the CIA Double agents in favour of overthrowing Mahathir's BN administration in the early 1998. However, I was not called to testify as a Witness by the High Court. Otherwise, I could have made millions out of my publicity for someone known in the Diplomatic Circle. I could have sued Anwar and Azmin Ali and his cronies! Not me as I fear my God Allah swt. for swearing at others who deliberately hurt their feelings and reputation. Let Allah take care of those unbelievers!

It was an historical legal battle emerging in the late 1990s and culminated in his being guilty after more than two years sensational trial. In mid 2000 Anwar was jailed for Sodomy and corruption. The rest is history but the opposition is still keeping silent and play innocent with Anwar for their political convenience until today. Nobody believe that Anwar was guilty of his wrong doings but Allah Almighty Knoweth!

But Anwar did not complete his jail term at the Sungai Buloh. He was subsequently released by former PM Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in 2004. One can only speculate that Badawi had misjudged his own political strength as a result of the overwhelming Barisan Nasional victory in 2004 general election. Thanks to Tun Abdullah. Anwar once again became a free man and was free to pursue his political ambitions to topple the BN government but had failed until the tail end of the 13th general election on 5th March 2013.

In March 2008 12th general election, Anwar through his PKR and PR loose coalition partner DAP and PAS managed to capture five States, including Penang and Selangor, the two most important states under the BN government. Anwar's political popularity was at a high end and was elected as the MP for Permatang Pauh (by default of his wife) which pave the way for Anwar to be in parliament as the Opposition Leader.

In September 2009, Anwar became overambitious. In his haste to topple the BN government and seize control of Putrajaya, (the administrative seat of the government) he enticed a number of BN MPs to join his camp. But he was unsuccessful. Instead the PR state of Perak was recaptured by BN in the most controversial move that resulted in a titanic battle between the two arch enemies. The matter was finally resolved in favor of BN, which is now legally won in the 13th general election.

The rest is history despite heavy condemnation of the BN leadership and also politically embroiled the Perak Sultan and the Palace. Sadly, the ill-will and disputes still continue to harped the current BN state administration under Chief Minister Zambry.

Currently, Anwar is again embroiled in his second Sodomy II trials after being accused of sodemnizing his aide Saiful Bukhari, which yet had taken a turn with public statements made by Saiful's father himself. There are other legal cases against Anwar, mostly defamation, in which he is directly or indirectly involved. One of the ongoing legal case that will involve Halim Saad, whose case of corrupt practice, when Anwar was the then Finance Minister is only the tip of the iceberg. I believe many heads will be rolled when the case comes up for the most financially sensational trial.

In most cases and countries, where democratic parliamentary processes are prioritized, Anwar would have been impeached or suspended from his election to parliament pending the outcome of his infamous trials. As such, to be in sync with the norms of parliamentary practice, the BN government should review the laws relating to member's privilege and immunity in the forthcoming session from 24th June 2013.

Lastly but not the least, how could Anwar justify his position as an MP when he is the object of so many legal cases against him in the Court of Law, especially relating to his ongoing Sodomy II trial of unnatural sexual assault?

YOUR 1 VOTE (ONE VOTE) COUNTS

Malaysia has gone through 12 general elections and yet we had survived with absolute national resilience after more than 55 years since our independence. There a few challenging years as in 1963, 1969, 1998 and 2008 that had threatened our national unity, political and economic pitfalls created by the internal and external situations that had to be faced by the Barisan Nasional leadership and administration.

In the interest of the nation's progressive survival, your one vote counts in the 13th general election which is to held very soon when the current parliament dissolves on 28th April, 2013. This general election will be the "mother of all elections" led by the Najib's leadership that will shape the new Malaysia towards the year 2020. Today, we have seen the political antics from both sides of the political divide and it's our choice and decision which path the nation is heading forward in the next few decades. The result will be a positive signal to the nation to progress or degrade.

"A lot of voters always cast their ballot for the candidate who seems to them to be one of the people. That means he must have the same superstitions, the same unbalanced prejudices, and the same lack of understanding of public finances that are characteristic of the majority. A better choice will be a candidate who has a closer understanding and a better education than the majority. Too much voting is based on affability rather than on ability." (WILLIAM FEATHER)

We should admit that the nation had been subject to a certain degree of political uncertainty since end of 1998 when Anwar Ibrahim was ousted as the Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister as well as UMNO Deputy President. As a result of this inevitable and unpopular decision by the former prime minister Mahathir to sack Anwar from all his political and government positions, the opposition had gathered strength at the expense of Anwar's political downfall as the imminent successor to Tun Mahathir as the PM designate. In the 2004 general election, Tun Abdullah led BN to an astonishing victory with a huge majority. However, it was a real test for Pak Lah's leadership and governance and subsequently in the 2008 general election, we won by a slim majority but lost control of the five states; Selangor, Perak, Kedah, Penang as well as failed to recapture Kelantan from PAS. The rest is history that will trickle the political scale of the next government in the coming 13th general election.

In my simple mind as a grass root politician for the last few decades, I envisaged that the opposition will always raise their fingers to condemn the good or bad governance of the BN administration under Najib's leadership since he took over the government from April 2009. The present government under Najib had performed very well in terms of economic and social developments in so many sectors of the government and private entities, that one should not deny based on our narrow political perception. We should look beyond the political scenario and appreciate what the BN government had put in placed the various commitments under the various Government Transformation Programs (GTP) that will formed the basis of our choice in giving a new mandate to the next government in power.

It is not about convincing election manifestos but the commitments and deliverable are very important to this nation towards our developed status in the year 2020. Both sides of the political divide should reduce the politics of empty promises and perception in order to move this country forward. The opposition states had proven that they are not capable of administrating their states with dynamism and with innovations, etc. If they could not deliver their promises and commitments, how could we trust them in managing the federal government and the nation?

To all my fellow Malaysians, your one vote will make the change and difference for Malaysia. The choice is absolutely yours in the wake of continuity to move this nation forward to better times ahead.

The Power of 1Malaysia's National Agenda

The 1Malaysia concept was the brainchild of Najib Tun Razak not long after he assumed the office of our 6th prime minister in March 2003. Prior to Najib's public announcement of 1Malaysia, we have never heard anyone, including Anwar and his cronies who had uttered the powerful term "1Malaysia or Satu Malaysia" and yet they claimed that it was copied from Israel or so and so around the world. What an act of sabotage and the act of absolute disloyalty to the nation and country! Shame on you Anwar as you should be a gentlemen more so as the parliamentary opposition leader to support the concept, rather than to condemn what is good for the people, nation and country. Even the United Nations had previously commented that "1Malaysia is a powerful innovative concept of the BN government under prime minister Najib Tun Razak."

As the nation is seeking a new mandate of governance, the coming 13th general election in Malaysia, will be the mother of all previous general elections. The government through SPR or the Election Commission have bowed to the pressure of the opposition by changing some of the important election processes in the interest of transparency without take side to BN or the opposition. However, the opposition is still not happy as more than 80% of what they had demanded had been incorporated into the election processes and to be tested in the coming 13th general election. What else does the opposition want in order to topple this BN government elected by the people in every five years since the nation's independence from 1957?

Malaysia does not belong to the few opposition leaders and Najib does not only belong to the Malays, but to all Malaysians, who should be given the equal right in this country. The Malays could no longer survive on the generosity of the government or they will always failed in their national goals and achievements as fellow Malaysians. Just like the Chinese and the Mamak (Malay and Indian concoction) generations who came to Malaya in rags and absolute penniless to this country but subsequently assumed economic and financial power in exchange for political power as agreed by our fore founders of Malaysia.

In the last 12th general election of 2008, the opposition swept 5 states but conceited Perak to BN after their one year of rule in office. The state of Kelantan under PAS rule for more than 22 years of governance is still poor and lacking in infrastructure development. This alone had proven that PAS the opposition in the state is not capable to manage the poorest state in Malaysia. The current situation on Selangor and Kedah is still not too encouraging under PKT and PAS respectively. However Penang under DAP had made some in road development but still relied on BN Federal government's intervention and national financial assistance to the people. DAP should not brag and claim that they had brought in foreign investments. MIDA has all the facts and figures to prove that it was BN's hard work that had attracted foreign investments into the island state of Penang and not through the effort of Lim Guan Eng and DAP.

My prediction in the results of the coming 13th general election is that BN will be up surge and will win with higher majority than in the 2008 general election. God willing, BN may even recapture Selangor and Kedah and will give a good fight in Kelantan or may even ready to form a coalition government for the East Coast State. There will not be a hung government, either way in parliament or state assembly. What we see on the internet and social websites are all totally false information and lies by the opposition and their allies in order to overthrow the current BN by equating our country to that of what had happened during the "Arab Spring." We are not the flip flop Arabs but Malaysians that love and care for the well being of this country. I wish to advise the opposition to be more responsible and do not threaten our national security due to their greed for power.
